Captain Emilio Carranza Rodriguez
MEMORIAL SERVICE 2005

Every year Mount Holly Post 11 of the American Legion holds a Memorial Service at the Monument to honor the fallen aviator. The Memorial Service is held on the Second Saturday of July at 1:00 p.m.

After the tragedy in 1928, the members of Post 11 made a promise to keep the memory of Emilio Carranza and his mission of Good Will and Peace alive. Every year since 1928, the members of American Legion Post 11 have kept that promise that their preceding comrades had made without fail.

The 77th Anniversary of Emilio's Crash
and
The 76th Annual Carranza Memorial Service

It is with great Pride That Mount Holly Post 11 of The American Legion, Department of New Jersey announces the 76th Captain Emilio Carranza Memorial Service was another success.

The Service was conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday July 9th, 2005 at the Emilio Carranza Memorial Park located on Carranza Road in Tabernacle, NJ.

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) joined the American Legion, Mount Holly Post 11 to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the tragic accident of Captain Emilio Carranza and Unveiled a Spanish/English Interpretive Exhibit at the site of his unfortunate accident in Wharton State Forest.

Following the one hour service, the New Jersey State Police and Burlington County Sheriffs department escorted the attendees back to the picnic area at Eden - Stanley American Legion Post 294 in Pemberton.

It was a good time to be had by all and to actually meet some of the dignitaries and Family who travel from all over North America and Central America to be here for our Mexican Hero Emilio Carranza. We are told that this is the 4th largest historic Latino site in America.

On behalf of Post 11, I the Carranza Committee Chairman, would like to cordially thank you for your attendance of the Saturday Affair. Post 11 is very appreciative of your interests and assistance in the remembrance of the Gallant Captain Emilio Carranza and his mission of Goodwill and Peace between Nations.

Christopher's Caterering provided a bounty of great food for those in attendance.

The Ballet Folkalaro Dancers from New York City (718) 592-8456 once again performed cultural dancing in authentic costumes. We would like to thank them for their attendance and performances.

Also performing in style were The Sugar Sand Ramblers (http://www.olnet.com/sugarsandramblers). Their music is at the heart of the Pinelands tradition. It is a tradition passed down from one generation to the next. Southern New Jersey is rich in a heritage that has been expressed over the centuries in its music and folk lore.  We would like to thank them for their attendance and their wonderful Folk Music.

For those organizations who presented a wreath at the Memorial Service, thank you for your attendance and participation in the Saturday Affair. Post 11 is very appreciative of your interests and assistance in the remembrance of the Gallant Captain Emilio Carranza and his mission of Goodwill and Peace between Nations..

I would like to thank Edgar's Flowers of Lumberton, NJ (609) 261-1116  for the wonderful job on the wreaths.  They made wreaths with plenty of flowers and keeping the costs down to those who ordered them.

A special Thank You to those who donated funds to help with the event. We are very appreciative for what is given to us to assist us with our multitude of expenses. For those who still wish to donate you may send a check or money order to:

There are so many people to thank that there is not enough room to list them all, so our Thank You is for everyone involved in any manner.

I would also like to thank our fellow Comrades and Legionaries and others who helped plan, set up, and bring the event to completion.

We not only thank those who helped this year but all those who helped in the past as well.
